Criatura mitica benevola, de la mitologia persa. Es una criatura con el cuerpo de ave, la cara de un perro y las garras de un leon, lo suficientemente grande para llevar un elefante, tambien es hembra, y su habitad es un lugar con gran cantidad de agua, las leyendas consideran al ave tan antigua que ah visto la destruccion del mundo tres veces, ah aprendido mucho en su larga vida, que se piensa posee el conocimiento de todas las edades. Era considerado que purificaba la tierra y el agua. la criatura representaba la union entre el cielo y la tierra y servia de mensajero y mediador entre ellos. De acuerdo al mito el simurgh tambien recogio y crio al heroe persa Zal

Is creature in the shape of a bird,with the head of a dog and the claws of a lion, gigantic enough to carry off an elephant, also is unambiguously female, and its natural habitat is a place with plenty of water, legends consider the bird so old that it had seen the destruction of the World three times over, learned so much by living so long that it is thought to possess the knowledge of all the Ages. The Simorgh was considered to purify the land and waters and hence bestow fertility. The creature represented the union between the earth and the sky, serving as mediator and messenger between the two. Acording to the myth the simurg raise Zāl, a mythical warrior of ancient Iran.
